We recently got back from a wonderful trip to Disneyland with all of Scott's family. It was so much fun and the kids had a blast. We were so anxious and excited to go that we made a count down chain at the beginning of the month. Olive was sure that we never missed a day!
I was a little nervous about our flight out there. It was at 8 pm which is usually bed time around here. We figured that it was either going to be a nightmare or it would work wonderfully. I'm happy to say that, at least on the going flight, everything went smooth and the kids were awesome. Coming home wasn't the same story but that wasn't really anyone's fault. Besides everyone is in a better mood at the beginning of a trip because there's lots of excitement and anticipation.
Here are the cute boys. Milo didn't actually have his own seat which would have been awesome. But he still did good.
And us cute girls. Olive is showing off the new toys she got to play with on the plane. It couldn't be a more appropriate time to play with a new Rapunzel and Tiana!
Towards the end of the flight Milo did get really tired and fell asleep on my shoulder. It was the cutest thing ever. I am trying to get in as many snuggles as possible these days.
The next morning we headed out to the park. We decided to start with the new Cars ride since it was all the rage. Olive found out it might be a kinda fast ride and so here is her grumpy "I'm afraid to ride this ride" face.
Here we are ready to ride. The ride takes you through scenes from the Cars movie. All the characters are there and Olive loved seeing everything. Then they fit you with racing tires and you race against another car. She really didn't like that part. She tucked her head in my side and cried the whole ride. We got off the ride and she told me she was never going on Cars again! She reminded us many times on the trip that she didn't want to race in Cars again. Oops! I guess not the perfect way to start off a trip to a place full of rides!
Since Milo was too little to ride on Cars, we met up with them over in Bugs land and Olive was much more on board with those rides.
Then we decided that we need to ride the new Ariel ride (which was adorable and a favorite) but on our way there we go stopped by the Phineas and Ferb dancing show. Olive and her cousins quickly jumped in and had the time of their lives dancing around. See her there in the yellow shirt? I don't think they know who Phineas and Ferb are but that didn't phase them one bit.
Then it was off to get our gaming on for the Toy Story ride. After Cars, Olive was a bit weary so we really had to talk her in to this one but in the end she had fun. It was my highest scoring ride ever and I was so proud. Then we got off the ride and I was going to tell Scott how good I did and he casually told me that he beat me by 20,000 points. Dang!
After that we decided it was time we get to the real good stuff and headed over to Disneyland. We went straight to Fantasy land. Olive was so impressed with Aurora's castle and kept telling us how it looked so beautiful covered in snow!
Once in Fantasy land we had no choice but to make Olive's heart happy and get her a princess dress. Her little cousin Lizzie had gotten an Ariel one and it was pure torture to Olive to not be able dress up too. These two sure love dress ups. They sat and admired/ examined each other's dresses for a good 10 minutes.
"Oh yours has sparkles, oh see my flower, oh I love Tiana, oh they are both green, oh you look beautiful!"
Then it was off to more rides. We went on the Story Book ride and Olive loved finding and recognizing everyone's house in minitures. And Small World was a big hit. We liked seeing it all decked out for Christmas and Olive loved finding all the characters. Milo really loved all the rides too. He would just sit back and relax on our laps. If you know Milo you know he never does that. We also met some princesses but I am saving that for another post.
As it got later we decided to head back and grab some dinner. We came upon the parade in progress and stopped to watch for a moment. It was really crowded and we couldn't see much. We were standing close to the walkway and one of the Disney workers saw Olive there trying to see. She asked if Olive would like to go to the front to wave at the princesses on their float. See them standing there? Olive was in heaven and waved emphatically as they passed by. That worker was so sweet and her kindness really made Olive's night.
Since the kids had been up late the night before and were exhausted from the day Scott took Milo back to the room after dinner to put him to bed. Olive and I headed back to California Adventure to scout out the perfect spot to watch the water and lights show. It was fun just the two of us hanging out and talking about all the fun we had that day. The show was really impressive and Olive and I loved it. The water was so cool how it would shoot up and then they would project scenes onto it. Plus they had fire! It was really fun and a great way to end the night. Perfect first day at Disneyland!
