Things Around Here

Not much has been going on around here, but it seems like a ton has been happening too, which is why I'm so behind on blogging! The thing that is taking up a lot of my time and mental energy is that our trip to Paris is coming up fast, so I've been trying to get everything all figured out. I thought I might just catch up on the last month in one quick post. 

We went to St George for President's Day Weekend and it was gorgeous. 

We did lots of swimming in the unusually warm weather. 

We also went to some of the Parade of Homes which is always fun. 

Poor Milo was so exhausted he fell asleep while eating dinner. When we tried to move him he got so mad at us and yelled "I'm eating!!" 

Milo is at the really horrible stage where he basically refuses to nap but is too tired to make it through the day without one. He falls asleep almost every day on the drive to either take Olive to school or pick her up. Then if he does nap, he refuses to go to bed until like 11 pm. It has been a crazy couple of weeks for his guy. Olive still napped the first 6 months that she went to preschool, so when she was done she was older and mature enough that I could reason with her or get her to do some quite time. Milo isn't there yet. So every day is kinda a roller coaster with a sleepy kid. But I'm not complaining because he is talking so much and lots of things are way easier nowadays. 

The other day though, I was vacuuming the house and came into his room to notice that he had put himself to bed for a nap. It was amazing. I am pretty sure it will never happen again, but I love that he did it!

Another day I walked into my room where Milo had pulled out this guitar case from under my bed and was hiding in it. What a cutie!

We went to the Utah gymnastics meet with some friends one night. Milo and Scott were sick so they stayed home.

And another day the dads braved Jungle Jim's on a Saturday to entertain the kids. They really love these kiddos! These past couple of weeks have been warm and nice. Last Saturday night we spent the whole evening at the park and then grabbed some dinner with friends. I love low key and easy nights like that. 

It was a year ago that Olive went in for her speech assessment. After months of hard work and hours and hours of practicing she met all her goals and graduated. Yay!! 

Other than that things have been the same, busy, busy and about to get busier. I got a new calling as Stake Young Women's secretary. Not to mention getting all the logistics coordinated while I am on my trip. I will be away from the kids for 13 nights. That is feeling really overwhelming and stressful right now, but I'm sure it will all get better once we go. And I probably won't have much to blog about until I get back!

Olive's Last Day of Ski Lessons

It was a busy ski season this year with Olive taking her class. I'm so glad we signed her up. It was a great experience for her and she learned so much. She was very proud of herself and she should be because she worked hard. It was also great to do it with friends. The dads got to go up and ski, and when they didn't we would go up and hang out as families. It was so much fun! The last lesson they told us that they were going to have the kids race down a real course so we all went up to cheer them on. It was very snowy that day so for part of the time I stayed inside with Milo because he was getting cold. 

When we went out to find Olive, she skied right up to him and gave him a big huge. Could they be cuter?

They did a run down the little hill first and then took a break. And then it was race time. 

Here is Olive going down in her race. She did SO great. She turned around every gate, didn't fall once, and was flying down with surprising speed and control. It was so awesome to watch. Yes, I might have cried a little bit, in between my cheering!

She made it! You may not be able to tell but she has a huge smile under her face guard! Good job Ollie!

And here they are with their teacher Jen and her assistant helper Canyon. They were both amazing and the kids loved them. 

This isn't from that same day but another day when we went up while Scott was skiing and picked Milo up to ride with him. It was adorable.   

That night we did a little awards ceremony and gave them candy trophies for all their hard work. 

We made it super official and made them listen to the national anthem and had the olympic march playing when they walked up to their spots. It was pretty awesome. 

They all took it so seriously too, like they were receiving real medals and awards. 

 A cute story is that this was around the time of the Olympics and once when Olive saw the ski races on tv she asked me "Mom, when is my race going to be in the Olympics?" She wanted to watch her race on tv. I found out that McCoy said something similar to his mom too! So cute!

Hooray!!! Can't wait until next year! 

Valentine's Day 2014

It was a busy day for us! We woke up early to go to speech therapy. We do a 14 days of Valentine's for the  kids and write something we love about them every day on a heart. I got them both something small for a gift. I wanted to get Olive some Frozen stuff but it was basically all sold out. I did find her an Elsa crown and a heart dress. I wrote them love notes too. 

Then after that we rushed over to heart attack Tanya. Then it was off to school to help with their Valentine's Party. I planned a "secret message" heart where the kids had to paint on a white heart to get a message to appear like a conversation heart. It was a fun activity. 

I'm so glad that Olive still loves having me come to class and be with her.

I brought Milo with me. Fortunately he did pretty good while playing with all the cool Kindergarten toys. Towards the end he was getting antsy and wanted to go but the teacher pulled out a a sucker and he was able to make it the rest of the time.

One game was a contest to stack their hearts the highest before they tipped over. They also got to decorate and eat their own heart cookie. 

I'm not sure why Olive looks so confused here but she really liked the cute story another mom brought. It was a fun day! 

Lunch Bunch Valentine's Party

We had a little Valentine's party for all the kids that come to our lunch bunch group. It was really fun and the kids had a great time. All the moms brought a little activity or a treat. It was so easy and all the kids loved it.

The play dough was a huge hit. 

Milo made a cute Love Bug. He is getting so big and I can't believe it. We went to his preschool open house a few weeks ago. Isn't that insane? He will be a little preschooler!

They also had coloring pages. It was amazing at how good some of these big girls are at coloring! Everyone is growing up!

My cute friend made this awesome limbo game where you had to try and not get kissed by the lips on the limbo bar. Love it! Sorry all the pictures are blurry, everyone was moving so much because they were so excited. 

Milo just kept running in circles under that bar over and over again. 

Then it was time for treats!

Olive had made individual Valentines for friends and after school it was raining but that didn't stop her. She was happy as a clam walking with her umbrella dropping off her Valentines.
