Being a Good Wife

Scott has recently decided that it is time to venture into new territory as a photographer. He has been working hard for the past few years as a real estate marketing photographer. Now he is letting his skills loose as he branches into wedding and portrait photography by starting Treebird Photography. Thanks Goodness for Cirle Cutters

I have already posted some highlights from Olive's birthday, but I worked super hard on all the decorations so I thought I would post some of those as well. Besides, Friday is usually something I have "created" and this took hours of cutting circles out, so I am counting that as creating it.

I thought this Birthday Banner turned out super cute and cleared up any confusion about why we were partying.


Here is the cake table and some close ups. The cake and frosting (and everything else) was all homemade and then we got so involved in the party we forgot to eat it!




My color scheme was brown, pink and lime green so I made some paper hearts to spread the color around.

I put out her scrapbooks so people could browse through her cuteness.



These were the party favors. I love how they turned out but mostly I loved that they were very easy.

Of course we had to have pom poms to give it that party flavor.


These were dot garlands I made for the walls and table fronts.

I also made a polka dot sign for the present table.


One of my biggest projects was a total bust. I thought it would be fun to have some streamers with dots on them that everyone could walk through as they entered the backyard. One gust of wind tangled them up making it impossible to unravel them. So we just hung them from the clothes line and counted it as decoration. I know Olive won't remember all the details and decorations of the party, but I will and maybe someday she will care that I cared.

I'm how old?

We had a week full of birthdays last week. Two days after Olive it was my turn.We celebrated lots of ways including going to a movie, a day at Lagoon, and finally ( a semi-celebration by attending) the Lion King. The show was amazing. It was a busy week but full of fun.


I also got some sweet gifts. I got this bike trailer to go with my new....

We have been going on lots of bike rides and loving it. It has been such an amazing, exciting, fun year!

Olive Loved her 2nd Birthday Party

Last week Olive turned 2 years old! It is crazy to me that it was 2 years ago that she was born.
I thought I would do a little comparison of her birth, 1 year old, and her at 2.


She absolutely loved her birthday party. It was a Polka Dot themed party and we had dots everywhere. I think her favorite thing was the bounce house that we put balloons in so they could bounce the "dots". She loved it so much it was almost hard to start the party because she didn't want to leave the bounce house.


We also played freeze dance to the Polka Dot Polka.

Played pin the dot on the dog, which was a super cute dalmation that Scott drew. My favorite parts was that it said "I Ruff Olive". She really liked that came and kept sticking dots on.

We also played toss the dot with water balloons which Olive felt in charge of handing out but didn't care about tossing. The older kids loved that game though.

I also made a "Guess Olive's age" banner for the kid and adults to play. I thought it was pretty simple, but turns out it was not at all. Oops.

We had polka dot cupcakes with chocolate chips inside, but if you got one without any dots you got a surprise. We ate pizza, mellon balls, and all the other "dot" food I could think of.

Our gift to Olive was some learning toys like magnets, linking cubes, and animal blocks because we are boring. But she got lots of other cool stuff from all her wonderful family and friends.



Olive was a pro at blowing out the candles and really loved being sung to. She now sings the Happy Birthday song all the time.

Thanks to everyone that came and showed Olive their love. We are so lucky to have such great people in our lives. You made Olive's day extra special!

Photo Friday Vacation Version

Steamboat Springs

I thought I would do a blog about our family trip. It was such a blast that I am positive everyone was depressed when it was over. Since only one person in the family actually reads my blog (shout out to Becca!) I guess I am posting this mostly for myself, but hopefully you can enjoy it too.

Other than our awesome hike that I already posted about, here are some of the highlights (in no particular order):

This was the dinner bell that came in very handy. I quite like the photo as well.


We saw double rainbows after this amazing sunset rain storm.


We went to this....well....I'm not sure how to describe this circus. I think I am going with incredibly ridiculous. It deserves it's own post, so more to come on that later.


We looked cute.


We practiced our gymnastics.


We did lots and lots of swimming.


We had a total blast with our cousins. Olive was in heaven having some one to constantly play with. Her cousins were so great to dote on her and make sure her every need was always met.


We played some fun sports including tennis, basketball, horse shoes, and a very exciting game of baseball.


We played some music and the cousins made up a song about our trip which was super cute. They performed said song at the campfire.


We went boating at Steamboat Lake which was absolutely perfect and beautiful.


We didn't have time to ski so Scott and I jumped in the tube. We got some pretty good air.


We got our cowboy/girl on.



We went shopping at Fuziwig's Candy Store; the funnest candy store I have been too.


We rode the Alpine slide after almost dying on the ski lift up.


We all played on this sweet retro seesaw.

We also did lots of other fun things like played Beatles Rockband, took family photos, played pinball and video games, ate yummy food, told outrageous stories, and laughed a lot.

As you can tell it was a great time and we are so thankful to have such a generous, fun, loving family to spend such quality time with.
