We had such a fun New Years weekend! We headed down to St George for a lovely little get away with family. As always it was nice to be outside, enjoy the weather, and take a break. St George is perfect because the kids can do the drive with no problems. They are fabulous travelers. We went to Snow Canyon again just to be outside and run around and play. Olive loved the sand, especially since it was soft enough for dad to "tackle" her in. Once he started she wouldn't let him stop. Let's just say they were both covered in sand by the end.
Then we went on a little hike. I can't wait until summer when we can actually hike again! But this definitely did the job for now. Milo was a trooper since we were pushing him way past his nap time and started to kind of melt down towards then end. Then, literally as I was walking to the car finally decided to fall asleep!
Isn't that pretty? Oh how we love our cousins! Olive could move in with them and be completely happy. I sometimes think she would have loved being a youngest child to always having big siblings to play with. That is why in some ways, St George in her heaven because there are always people around and always things going on.
Because we had been on vacation all weekend we had stayed up late every night and Olive had no nap for 4 days in a row, I was very curious about how New Year's Eve would go. We decided to put Olive to sleep at the regular time but then wake her up at 11:30 so she could dance and party with us. When Scott went in to get her she wouldn't wake up. Then he brought her out and she still wouldn't wake up.
She just stayed asleep on him for 10 minutes, even after a drink got spilled all over her. Finally, after she kinda saw that there were some dress ups she decided that she wanted to wear a hat and woke up. We were having so much fun playing games and dancing that we actually missed the real ball drop and just did it on "our own time". Technically this was the year that we missed New Years!
My two cuties. I swear we didn't keep Milo up. He usually wakes up and has one last night cap bottle to fill that little tummy for the night and it so happened to be right in time for the party. He was very concerned about most of the noise and all around craziness and kept grabbing on my shoulder.
Party!
The best part about staying somewhere for New Years is that you can all be together but not have to drive home (I'm always scared of drunk drivers). So after we rang in the new year it was off to bed! Olive especially liked this bed because it was a small bed like hers at home but also because it is called the "bear bed". It is full of these huge stuffed animals that were all Scott's from when he was a little boy. She was thrilled to find out these new friends used to belong to her daddy "when he was whittle".
Happy New Year!

We contemplated keeping Scarlett up to play with us to celebrate the New Year, but decided that pushing her bed time four hours later probably wouldn't end well. Fun that they both got to be awake!
