It's tradition to go to the Utah State Fair. I love the fair. There is something fun and crazy about it at the same time. Everything is oversized, over priced and fried. I am always shocked at how it costs a small fortune and how you feel sick afterwards but there is nothing like it. Good times. On our way there this time it was a torrential down pour as I drove on the freeway and we were pretty sure we were going to get soaking wet. Fortunately it let up right as we parked. It sprinkled a few times but was enough to drive the crowds away. It was kinda perfect actually!
As we arrived we found these people blowing gigantic bubbles and my kids were loving it. Nothing like a huge bubble!
Then we got these humungous corn dogs. Milo's looks as big as he is. Scott and I had some steak sandwiches which were actually pretty delicious. And you must get BBQ corn, you must.
I like how Olive is eating hers like corn on the cob. Whatever works girlfriend.
As per tradition we stopped by to see the animals. The goats were fun to pet but I liked the sheep the best. Their wool feels so cool and horrible at the same time. It's like they have a rug on their back!
Then it was the kids favorite part, the rides. Scott took one for the team and went on this car ride for Milo who ended up hating it and screaming to get off. It was a really big one for the team. Poor Milo too, he was so excited to ride it and then hated it so so much.
Then we packed all 7 kids into this spinning dragon. As you can imagine all of us parents had our phones out taking pictures obsessively of them all crammed in there and the ride operator was looking at us like we were crazy people. It was hilarious.
We had to do the Big Yellow Slide. We had to talk Olive into it a bit, but in the end she was on board. I was nervous to see her at the end....
and it was a big success. She loved it and wanted to ride again but for $2 we said only once a year!
Olive made friends with some of the ride operators. This one at the "Fun Zone" (but more like "Disgusting Germ Zone") was giving her a few insights into the life of a carny.
The Barrel of Fun was a big hit with all the kids. They kept wanting to go over and over.
We also got ice cream, bought the kids each a decorative fan (Olive thinks that is a tradition now too) saw some art and photography, got rained on a bit and much more but my phone ran out of batteries. It was a great time had by all!
