Then we wanted to see the Graffiti Park which was really cool. The only problem was that we were there in a heat wave and it was ridiculously hot. We were all melting in the sun.
We thought of Olive when we saw this cool graffiti.
We had to hike up through these tall weeds to see the top.
But it was worth it because it was a cool view of the city skyline.
Then we went downtown. Aubree found the perfect Holy Cow Batman sign for her since she says that all the time.
We went through a free tour of the Texas Capitol building. It was so huge and very impressive, especially inside.
Scott and Taylor were trying to give themselves vertigo. See them hanging their heads over the edge?
After the Capitol we rented some bike and rode them up Congress Street and across the bridge to so cool shopping. It was really fun, but SO hot.
We went to lots of shops and some, like this boot store, we just hung out at forever trying to avoid the heat. Taylor did buy Aubree a pair of boots for her present, which was pretty cute.
By this time the rest of the group joined us to watch the bats on Congress Bridge. That was really cool.
Look at that pretty sunset.
So many bats!
The whole gang! Let the party begin!
We took bike taxis over to 6th street to find some good Austin eats. Christine and Noels taxi had this awesome Darth that played music the whole ride.
It was a great night with great food. The plan was to try and head out to San Antonio the next day but we kinda scrapped that plan. And we didn't know what to do before the game because of the heat so we opted to all go to a movie.
Then it was off to the game. We did some pre-game shopping at the bookstore and got our kids some cute stuff. Here we are in front of the stadium.
UT fans were so awesome. Everyone was so accommodating and friendly. And I was rather surprised how everyone had lots of UT gear on.
In front of the bell tower.
Okay, this stadium was HUGE. Seriously so big.
I don't actually remember much about the game other than it was hot. So hot. I feel like it was hard to watch the game while all I did was sit, squished on a bleacher style bench, and sweat on the people next to us. I think BYU won but I honestly checked out at some point. It was just so hot.
The next day we went out to Bee Cave to visit my cousin Robyn and her family which was really fun to see them. Then we caught our flight home and were busy trying to finish up our house. It was so fun to get to hang out just as adults and not be worried about our kids. I think we all had
a great time and want to do more trips like this. I'm so lucky that I married in to such a fun family.
