Olive and the Princess Festival

 This year we went to the Princess Festival at Thanksgiving Point. As you can imagine Olive loved it.

She was a bit nervous to meet this very tall juggler but I think this picture is so cute. 

They went on a trip through the maze with Alice (although Olive got a bit lost)

Olive liked getting her book signed by all the princesses. Here she is with Sleeping Beauty. After meeting Belle, the princess asked Olive if she'd seen Snow White yet and Olive, rather skeptical of their un-Disney costumes said "Yes, I've met the real one at Disneyland". 

There were a whole bunch of "new" princess just for the festival and these princess took the girls on little adventures where they had to solve a problem or help someone. 

Olive took participating in the adventures as very serious business. 

A highlight for sure was getting her face painted. She didn't want to "ever wash her face again!"

We had to do some exploring in between crafts. 

They put on a pretty cute production of Princess and the Pea. 

Olive seemed so grown up as she sat here taking in every moment. 

It was kinda bright when she met the Frog Princess. Olive did like talking about how their dress matched since she was wearing her Tiana dress. 

Olive had no clue that this was supposed to be Cinderella and Prince Charming. She said to me after this picture "Maybe that was Cinderella's little sister?"

A princess has to get some play time in. 

Olive really liked meeting the Miss Lehi royalty because they gave her pictures. 

As part of the festival they give you princess coins to spend at the festival. Olive chose this parasol from the princess store. 

Then she and Milo had a tea party. 

Olive was really excited to see Ariel in her fins and in the water. Here she is examining her tail to make sure it was real. 

Nothing better to end a great, hot day filled with princesses than with some cotton candy. 

I think Milo liked the cotton candy a little more than the princesses. 

Olive loved that parasol so much and carried it around the rest of the day but it didn't survive much after that. 

It's Not Summer Without the Drive In!

This is one of our favorite parts of summer. You know we are a movie loving crowd and there is something so fun about watching a movie outdoors. 

Milo's favorite part was playing with the stereo. Anyone surprised?

Olive's favorite part was making new friends with the little girl sitting next to us. Anyone surprised?

It's tradition to take a drive in selfie.

Then a few weeks later we went with some friends. Olive loves a movie outside, but she especially loves it when there are friends involved. Here she is looking super grown up waiting for the movie to start. 

Olive and her friend Lucy cuddled on this bean bag for basically the whole movie. 

It's not a real party until we break out the treats! We had to have some refreshment because it was so hot this week and we were all sweaty by the end of the movie.

Father's Day 2013

We tried very hard to have a special Father's Day so that Scott would know how awesome he is and how much we love and appreciate him. 

He requested Belgium waffles for breakfast but I have never made them before. I tried to take a short cut and not use egg whites. Although they were good, they weren't really very belgium waffle-ish so we had to try again the next week (with much more success).

Olive found these mustache suckers at the store and really wanted to get them for Scott. I must say, I have the cutest family!

Olive thought these were so funny, one picture just wasn't enough.

I totally surprised Scott and got him a Nest. It is basically a home automation thermostat. It's pretty cool because it learns your schedule and temperatures and you can also control it remotely. Right up Scott't alley right?

We went to Taylor and Aubree's for after having dinner with my family. I came inside from the backyard and found all the men on the couch like this. I guess they are pretty good friends. Scott looks pretty animated too. They must have been talking college football.  Happy Father's Day Scott! We love you so much!

Where is Our Summer Going?

It has been such a busy summer that I have barely had time to do usual things like laundry, cooking, and blogging. We have been enjoying every moment to it's warm, summery max and a lot of other things have been on the back burner. Well, now that our trips are over and things are a little more chill, I thought I should catch up on all the fun we've been having. 

The kids and I have literally seldom been home this summer. Almost every day we are going somewhere. Since we have a zoo pass we've done that quite a bit, not to mention all our pool days. Plus we like to try out new place and be sure to visit our summer favorites. Here we are playing at the Canyons at Liberty Park.

There have been lots of summer evening walks/ bike rides. You should see Olive on her balance bike. She's pretty amazing at it!

We've gone to Seven Peaks a few times. This is Olive looking really stylish with her floaty and swim cap (she is obsessed with her cap!)

There have been picnics in the park.

Olive found a "secret place" in our bushes in the yard. I absolutely love this, mostly because I remember doing the same thing as a kid. 

We have had a few painting sessions on the porch.

Our neighbors had a super cute birthday party with this awesome bounce house/ water slide. Daddy's are so good at wrestling in bounce houses. What would we do without them?

We've had many bike rides. 

We met our newest cousin Jake. 

Like I said before, many, many trips to the pool. It's extra special when Scott gets to come because he is extra fun.

My kids have turned into little fish this summer. I sometimes hear other people tell me that their kids complain about going to swim lessons or to the pool. Not mine, they love it.
