'Tisn't the Season

Here is our belated Christmas post. We spent the afternoon on Christmas Eve with my family opening presents, since there was suppose to be a huge storm. Then we drove to Scott's parents to spend the night with them. It felt like a college holiday and we had so much fun being there while everyone opened presents. It was a mini vacation.

New Christmas jimjams. I love the polar bear!

Christmas morning with daddy.

O and I both got new coats this year. I am loaded up with coats, Scott has given me a new one for the last 3 years. It is like a tradition almost. My traditional gift for him is a new Futurama dvd. I also usually get him a new pair of shoes but didn't this year. Fortunately my brother took care of that gift.

Ollie got lots of stuffed animals in her stocking from Grandpa. Here she is surrounded by all her new friends.

Sitting with Grandpa so we could open presents.

Everyone in Scott's family got a new pair of boots. Here we are showing off our killer kicks.

Scott was very excited about his new boots and wanted to try them on right away. His mom is laughing at him.

Baby girl laying on her new elephant pillow/blanket/stuffed animal/sweet gift.

I just had to show off her amazing legs. Can you say THUNDER thighs anyone? Those are just the rolls you can see, there are more in her diaper.

G & G surprised us with a perfect gift. It is a jumper and activity center in one. She is so ready to have more entertainment that just mom and dad. Here she is trying it out. She uses it everyday now.

She is saying "Merry Christmas" (almost a month ago!)

This will have to do...

I went to the computer this morning with every intention of posting O's first Christmas pictures only to find that they are not on the camera. Hmm...that can't be good. I am pretty sure they are somewhere but I must not be savvy enough to figure out how to retrieve them. So, this will have to do.
My mom is very talented and crocheted this super cute outfit. I want to get some "real" pictures of her in it but I thought I would test it out on my own first.

Sweet smiles.

This is Ollie's typical look, very concerned. Doesn't it just say "Mom, WTH are you doing?" Also, this is the perfect picture to see the wrist rolls that my sweet girl has. Is that normal?

I love this one because it really showcases her chubber cheeks. I think they have actually gotten a bit smaller this month, if you can believe that, but she was going through a crazy growth spurt. Doesn't her skin look so pretty and *olive*...that must be from her dad seeing as I am definitely on the pasty side of the spectrum.

She is getting really strong and can hold herself up pretty well, which is quite the feet with cheeks like that.

I also love the cute leg warmers. I wish I had some myself considering it has been cold and dreary, i.e. typical January weather. Boo to January.
Next post will hopefully be a Christmas post, better late than never right? If the pics are lost I am totally re-enacting her first Christmas just to get the pictures.

Olive in the Future

We found this funny website that lets you see what your baby might look like. What do you think of the future Olive?
Baby Ollie:

Little girl Ollie:

Apparently, poor Olive is going to have a GIGANTIC forehead! I wonder what parent that comes from. I am a little disappointed that she will be a blonde, I was hoping for brown curls. Oh well, you can't argue with the computer's perfectly accurate predictions.

Yay for me!

These are the Christmas stockings I made. That's right...made! I was looking at the Pottery Barn ones below but I thought they were just too expensive. Turns out that I was looking at the wrong price, (the tree skirt cost $69, not the stockings) and then they went on super sale, so I probably could have afforded them. But, I made these ones which make them better (definitely not better in quality, only better to me).
Velvet Ribbon Stocking

As you can see I was trying to copy this stocking and had to "create" my own design when my measurements wouldn't allow for the ribbon design to continue. I decided I would just leave them asymmetrical. So, I was *inspired* by Pottery Barn, not copying.

Pretty good, right? Well, I am proud at least.

It's That Time of Year

Last week we went to Temple Square with our friends Kent and Joan to see the lights. It made me miss living downtown and having the convenience of walking to Temple Square and not parking. The lights were great but I was so busy catching up and chatting with our friends that I hardly spent time looking at them. Olive, on the other hand, was dazzled with all the bright things to look at.

We bundled her up nice and cozy. Well, actually she was so bundle that she couldn't put her arms down, just like in A Christmas Stroy. Thankfully it wasn't too chilly that night. She got a lot of attention with her cute rosy cheeks. Everyone would talk about her when they passed by. What can I say, she is pretty adorable.

A Typical Day

I saw a friend do this on their blog and it got me thinking about what I do all day. So I decided to track my day yesterday.
7:46 woke up to Olive making noises in her crib
7:49 fed Olive
8:25 changed 1st poopy of the day and got her dressed (in her cute ruffle pants)
8:30 exercised while Olive watched
9:00 wash bottles
9:10 eat breakfast while checking blogs and added friends to facebook (I am still surprised by how many people are on there)
9:30 put Olive down for her nap without being swaddled (we are trying to ween her)
9:35 get dressed
9:37 washed old spit up off my shirt
9:40 get ready and make bed
10:10 got 21 emails? what the?
10:12 write Corinne back
10:17 check why Olive is crying (she was crammed in the corner of the crib)
10:20 swaddle Olive
10:21 complain to Scott that Olive can't sleep without being wrapped up but she comes out of her swaddle, so frustrating
10:22 watch some weird and high skewed/totally misinformed "documentary" about polygomy
11:00 get Olive up to eat
11:30 change another diap
11:32 play tummy time
11:45 sing some Thanksgiving songs while making Olive dance
11:51 read stories
12:13 put Olive down for a nap
12:14 read Slaughterhouse Five (I just started this book but so far I like it, it is the second book I have read this fall that has talked about the destruction of Dresden Germany during WWII just by coincidence)
2:00 take a nap (reading made me tired)
2:30 make and eat some lunch while watching Late Night
2:51 go get Olive since she just woke up
2:55 let Kitty outside
3:00 let Kitty back inside
3:01 feed Olive
3:38 change Olive's diap again
3:40 decide to go on a walk
3:41 call my sister-in-law to see if I can come over to hang out
3:42 get Olive bundled up
4:00 get myself ready
4:07 load Olive in the stroller
4:10 Scott calls
4: 12 almost drop the stroller down the stairs and tell Scott I have to go!
4:14 call Scott back
4:20 enter the park
4:30 my ears start to ache, it was a little colder than I thought
4:45 get to Becca's house hang out until Scott comes to pick us up
6:30 get ready to leave
7:00 actually leave
7:05 get home and feed Olive again
7:15 answer the door for the babysitter (another sister in law Aubree) while Scott gets Olive dressed in jimjams
7:30 leave for the movies
8:00 watch Quantom of Solace (going on a date is not actually typical nowadays)
9:55 be disappointed in Quantom of Solace
9:56 talk about why we were disappointed in the movie on the drive home
10:15 get home and feed Olive again
10:35 babysitter leaves
10:40 watch Jay Mohr do a pretty spot on impression of Tracy Morgan
11:10 get ready for bed
11:20 get in bed
11:25 Scott comes to bed
11:30 snuggle up to him and fall asleep

It doesn't seem like that much happens in a typical day, but when I break it down it is a lot of small stuff. You have to appreciate the small stuff. Right?
