We went straight to the beach when we got to California and Olive went straight to the water when we got to the beach. Here she is playing in the waves with grandpa.
The water is where she stayed for the rest of the day. She played and splashed in the waves. She dug in the wet sand and caught sand crabs. She couldn't have been happier.

Milo on the other hand was pretty nervous of the water and didn't want to go close to it....
until we made it a game to run away from the waves and then he was happy.
Then Milo found the sand and that is where he stayed the rest of the day digging and digging.
For some reason he loved folding himself up in the beach chairs. Silly boy.
but look how cute he is!
Olive and I dug for sand crabs for a long time. We would put them in a bucket and them release them again. One time we found the biggest sand crab I've ever seen. Olive said "He's the daddy sand crab!"
We visited Newport Beach and Corona Del Mar while on our trip.
We made this awesome sand castle. We had to yell at the kids to keep them away because they couldn't resist the urge to smash it.
Olive was so happy when we finally let her destroy it.
Milo was making it up to Scott after having a major tantrum that morning. He was being such a cute boy while hanging out with Scott under the canopy. That boy sure loves his daddy, most of the time.
Olive was a really brave girl and would let me send her on the boogie board on the small waves. She loved it and would yell "WOOHOO!!" when it would carry her to shore. I was a pretty proud mom. She knows the way to my heart.
We buried Olive like 5 times. It was her favorite thing, well I think busting out of it was her favorite. I kept laughing though because she would start a hole for herself to get buried in but then get tired or bored and just plop down in the most shallow hole ever. Silly girl.
One of the many times we buried her Scott made her into a mermaid. See it? There is nothing like spending a beautiful day at the beach!
