Halloween Part 1....the Activities

October was a crazy month. We love Halloween around here and never want to miss one part of it. That means that we cram our October full of traditions and events. It is always fun, but there is a sense of relief on November 1. This year was no exception, we had a fun, busy and crazy Halloween season. The only complication was that Scott was out of town two weekends this month so it made blogging nearly impossible. Thus, get ready for some major blog overload and Halloween mania! 

First off, every year we have a Witches Dinner. We wear our best witch clothes, sing "Witch's Brew", and eat a yummy dinner full of brew ingredients.   

We happened to have a friend over that night so she got to be a witch too!

Bat droppings, slime, goblin guts, eye of newt were just some of our dining options. 

Yum!

We met up with some friends at Red Butte Gardens for their "After Dark" party. It was really fun, even if we were a bit chilly.

I have the cutest family! 

Olive made a wolf mask and like scaring everyone!

They had different stations of activities of crafts you could make. One was making floating lights on their pond. As soon as we walked up to it Olive said "Mom!! It's like the floating lights in Rapunzel!!!" 

She made a mummy light, it was so cute. 

Even though she was nervous we did walk through the little haunted trail part. It was a really fun night. 

For the past three years we have done the "Little Haunts" activities at This Is the Place. Here is Olive all dressed up as Snow White. I found this costume on sale while I was at FAO Shwartz in NYC. It was such a pretty costume and she was SO excited about it. On this day we couldn't find the head band that came with the costume. Olive was so upset but decided to solve it by wearing a different dress up head band. Apparently she is a butterfly Snow White. 

Olive liked the Witch Story time and the costume parade.

"Snow White loves riding ponies" is what Olive told me before her ride. 

Our library always does a fun Halloween story time. Milo is supposed to be Dopey but he hated keeping his hat on. 

However, he did really, really love the snacks.

Carving pumpkins. 

Olive had many, many opinions about what we should do with the pumpkins and how they should look. She was the designer and we were the creaters. Olive was pretty pleased with the results. 

She got these witch fingers at our Halloween party and she wore them for days because "they have beautiful nails mom".  Here she is doing her best witch cackle.  

Nothing like some glowing pumpkins to celebrate an awesome Halloween.
